(DVD Label) Research/guides.
Befor I started my DVD label I decided to use the google
search engine. To find professional DVD labels that would give me ideas on how I
would like to carry out my DVD label project, the first thing I noticed about most
DVD labels is that the images where made to work around the DVD label so with
this sad I needed guides of some sort to help you create my image accurately.
Guide
For my project I had to
make a logo which will be placed on the front of a DVD cover to do this I went
to view and then I used the guides objects and then made them into a circular
form making sure that this matched the numbers I needed. wich in this case where, 117.5mm all around, 8.7mm hub, stack hub 16.7 mm. The reason why I did this is because I didn’t want to create an image that
would be too big for my disk so I made guides to guide me as I made my image.
(DVD Case) Display/guides.
Display option.
First I opened Photoshop, first thing that appeared was the screen option in this option I
was given the options of changing the width, height, pixels etc. but I decided
to change my color mode first. I had two options that would work for my project
and those where RGB and CMYK. I made small research regarding the
two and decided to choose the CMYK option / 8 bit the reason why I
decided to use set my mode to CMYK is because Most of the time when images are
created using the RGB option will ofeten be used for images that
will be projected on electronic systems. CMYK is
used commonly for printing images this will then give you a similar image to
the one on your screen.
For my project I had to make a poster which will be placed on the front of a dvd cover. to do this I first needed to add guides to help me create my poster accuratelyy . To do this I went to view and then I used the guides and dragged in three rectangle boxes measurements to imitate a dvd cover .the reason why I did this is because I didn't want to create an image that would be too big for my cover so I made guides to guide me as I made my image, because a common problem that people have when printing their images is that the image will often be too big or small so by adding guides this eliminates this problem.

(DVD Case) Research.
Research
For my DVD cover I decided
to make some research. This consisted of looking at DVD covers and researching
which where most effective. When I was creating my cover I had to consider the
effectiveness of the cover. As the designer I had to try convey the movie into a
simple poster.

The main DVD
cover that I found similar to my movie idea was the GRAVITY cover. The first layer
is the fonts indicating the actor’s and name of the movie. This is a traditional
layout that you would find on most DVD covers. The other layers will usually be
logos of creators and manufactures of the product. The next part of this DVD
will be the actual cover this cover seems to consist of three layers the first
one being the background of earth, next is the man flouting in space , second
being the space shuttle all these layers have been placed in a
order that will produce a professional cover if you notice the man
floating, you can tell a glow effect has
been added to he’s frame. So with my research finished I collected the images below.

These are all the images that I picked out the reason why I choose
all these images is because I needed a image that replicates someone falling. so
after I had done this I had to pick one and continue with my design.
